* Enjoy a leisurely snorkel with sea lions on Pajaros (Bird) Island.
* Hike the tide pools at Playa Hermosa Beach, where you'll see tiny crabs, colorful snails, and other sea life among the endless varieties of coral and plants. You may even spot an octopus!
* Try whale watching, or hiking the volcanic craters, lava tubes, and cinder cones at El Pinacate Biosphere National Reserve, where Apollo 14 astronauts practiced their moon walks.

There are many reputable sport fishing charter services available in Puerto Penasco. (Or you can just ask any of the locals for a good shore-fishing spot.) Try fishing for pompano, halibut, or any one of the myriad of local varieties in season throughout the year.
Please note: Everyone in any boat where even one person is fishing needs a fishing permit (not required for children under 12 if accompanied by a permitted adult). Any catch cannot be sold or exchanged. All boats in Mexican waters need a valid permit. Only 11 pounds of fish per person can be taken from Mexico per trip.

* There are organized weekend city teams & pick-up games of soccer, baseball and basketball at the Municipal Athletic fields located behind the baseball stadium at the entrance to town. Stop by just to watch, or join in the fun.
* Check VHF radio channel #26 for Cholla Bay Sportsman's Club, Penasco Chapter, which meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5 pm at various restaurants (except July-Sept).
* Try your hand at the 501 Dart Tournament at 3 pm Thursdays at the Sunset Cantina.

* Visit CET-MAR Aquariums, where you can get up close and personal with sea turtles, octopus, sea horses, shrimp, and numerous fish and crab species. Located at 43 Las Conchas Road (off Fremont Blvd on the road to Las Conchas, turn right at the sign where road curves right) before the Las Conchas Communities gate. Note: $1.00 Donation Appreciated - Monday - Friday 10 am - 2:30 pm - Saturday & Sunday 10 am - 5 pm. Phone: 382-0010
* The Center for Deserts & Oceans (CEDO) offers free tours (2pm Tuesdays, 4pm Saturdays) and natural history walks. Call 382-0113 for details.
